Sgt. Major Carl Stiger

~ SGT. MAJOR CARL STIGER OBITUARY ~ SGT. Major CARL B. STIGER, 71, the oldest of the two children of the late Carl B. Stiger, Sr. and Susie Mae Stiger, was born August 19, 1941 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He departed this life on October 9, 2012 at MCG Hospital. At the early age of 18, he joined the Marine Corp. and he retired with Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corp. after served four tours of duty in Vietnam of which he received the Purple Heart from being wounded in two tours. He retired from the Marine Corp. after serving 30 years as Sergeant Major Stiger. He went on to further his education at Voorhees College, acquiring a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He went onto continue his professional career working multiple positions at East Central Regional Hospital/Gracewood State School and Hospital where he retired as the Director of Environmental Services. He leaves to cherish his loving memories:his wife, Gloria Stiger; daughter, Tracey Winters (Curtis); son, Richard Stiger; daughter, Angela Sorapuru aka Nikki (Leonard); adopted sisters, Elanor Payne and Anna Marie Evans; and a host of other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted this evening, Saturday, October 13, 2012, at 6 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Gibson Chapel with Reverend Sheffie Rouse officiating. Visitation will be this afternoon from 1 - 4 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.   GUESTBOOK ENTRIES: To our family of Carl "Buddy" Stiger, Jr, we will miss him. We send all our love and prayers. May God lead and guide us all. Carl has joined his mother, father and brother in a great homegoing. Let us not be sad because Carl is in a better place.
