~ FRANKLIN SMITH OBITUARY ~ Mr. Franklin D. Smith, 81, passed on from Earth to Heaven on Saturday, January 2, 2021. A native of Columbia County, Georgia. He was educated in the Columbia County School System. He attended the Augusta Technical College and Augusta College. Frank joined the New Hope Baptist Church at an early age. He helped to organize the Young Adult Gospel Choir and served as President for a number of years traveling throughout the CSRA singing praises to God. Frank retired from Rock Tenn Packaging where he was a dedicated worker for 40+ years. Frank had a passion for work and committed himself to several lines of employment. He was a Sales Representative for Primerica for many years until death. He was a dedicate employee of the Walmart Company for more than 17 years until death. Frank enjoyed talking to people and was known to his family as “A Great Philosopher”. Preceding Frank in death was his wife, Rita D. Smith; his parents, Julian Dunn and Mamie S. Raiford; his brother, Lloyd Raiford and sisters, Carrie Raiford, Mozell Raiford, and Viola R. Watts. He leaves to cherish lasting memories: Two sisters; Julia(Bobby) McDougal, and Edith(Phillip) Marshall; Nieces: Catina Thrasher, Jacksonville, FL; Sharon Raiford; Grovetown, GA; Sherry Johnson(Horace) Johnson, Thomson, GA; Selena Raiford; Augusta, GA, Angela Marshall; Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Victoria Marshall; Atlanta, GA. Nephews: Joe Nelson, Jr., Clinton Raiford (Diane), Isaac Nelson, all of Harlem, GA; Jonathan Marshall, Augusta, GA; Dear cousins: Virginia Thomas; Harlem, GA; MacArthur Smith, Wendell Smith, and Alfonso Smith of Augusta, GA and a host of other relatives and friends.   Graveside Services will be conducted Saturday, January 16, 2021; 1:00 PM at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, 3666 Deans Bridge Road, Hephzibah, GA 30815. Visitation will be Friday, January 15, 2021 from 2:00PM -6:00PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.
