A Proud Military Veteran, Devoted Husband, Loving Father, Cherished Grandfather, and Beloved Family Man
A Life of Love, Honor, Strength, and Service
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Charles Linwood, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 30, 2026. Charles was a proud military veteran, devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, great grandfather, beloved brother, and a man whose life was filled with love, strength, dedication, and honor.
Charles was born on November 13, 1954, in Augusta, Georgia, where he was raised and spent his early years. He was the youngest of four siblings, born to Joe Marvin Linwood and Betty Jean Linwood. Growing up, Charles developed the strength, determination, and values that would guide him throughout his life. Charles began studying the bible with Jehovah’s Witness East Augusta congregation and came to love the truth of their teachings. Where he was later baptized.
Charles was a remarkable man who proudly served his country with courage, dignity, and commitment. As a military veteran, he understood the true meaning of sacrifice, loyalty, and service. Charles retired from J and J Midsouth after 25 years of dedicated service. His years of hard work and commitment reflected the strong work ethic, determination, and sense of responsibility that he carried throughout his life.
As a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sarah Jones-Linwood, Charles understood the true meaning of love, commitment, and standing beside the one he cherished. Their bond was a testament to devotion, companionship, and the importance of family.
As a loving father, Charles was a source of guidance, wisdom, protection, and strength. He took great pride in his children and the lives they built. He understood that being a father meant more than providing for a family; it meant being present, offering encouragement, teaching valuable lessons, and showing love through both words and actions.
His love extended beyond his children to his grandchildren, great grandchildren each of whom held a special place in his heart. Being a grandfather, great grandfather brought Charles tremendous joy and pride. He cherished the opportunity to watch his grandchildren grow, share precious moments with them, and create memories that will remain in their hearts forever.
A Legacy of Love and Family
Charles leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love through his devoted wife, Sarah Jones-Linwood, and his loving family.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his children Joseph (Matilda) Linwood Sr., Dorian Childs, Charles Linwood., Joy Collins, and Anthony (Christine) Jones.
He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Joseph Linwood Jr., Laniya Davis, Meyome Linwood, Kayman Coleman, Natalya Linwood, Nickolaus Greene, Tyra Porter, Camille Collins, Gabrielle Collins, Eden Jones, and India Jones.
He was a proud and cherished great grandfather to Naliya Greene and Kamora Greene.
Charles also leaves behind his beloved sister, Barbara Jean Pruitt and brother, Lewis Linwood. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dean Linwood and Leroy Linwood. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and adoring friends.
Forever in Our Hearts
To Sarah, he was a beloved husband, companion, and partner. To his children, he was Dad, a man they could look to for love, guidance, wisdom, and strength. To his grandchildren, he was Grandpa, a treasured presence whose love and memory will forever remain in their hearts. Charles, your journey here on earth has come to an end, but the love you gave will never fade.
We salute you for your service.
We thank you for your sacrifices.
We honor you for the husband, father, grandfather, brother, and remarkable man you were.
Though we can no longer see your smile, hear your voice, or hold your hand, nothing can take away the love and memories you leave behind.
Rest in Peace, Charles Linwood.
