Charles McGruder

Charles "Lynnbug" McGruder of Columbia County passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, at the age of 87. Born January 1, 1939, Charles was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. 

Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thelma McGruder, as well as his parents, Willie Bell McGruder and Tom McGruder. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Cecil McGruder, John Thomas McGruder, Willie James McGruder, and Odafous McGruder, and his grandchild, Terrell Garnett as well as 7 aunts and 6 uncles. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Carl Garnett, Charles Garnett, Thomas McGruder and Barbara McGruder; his sisters, Juanita Johnson, Betty Jo McGruder, Georgia Ruth Smith, and Ruthie Mae Williams Charles also leaves a host of grandchildren, including Eddie Willingham, Larry Boyd, Anthony Sweat, Shenna Ellison, Alicia Clarmont, Franchesca Garnett, Carlos Garnett, and Charlene Garnett, 18 great grandchildren along with other loving family members and friends.

 Charles will be remembered for the love he shared with his family and the special place he held in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. May he rest peacefully and forever be remembered with love.
