Cindy Aretha Wells-Gibbons, a cherished member of the Augusta community and a devoted servant of Jehovah, passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on February 26, 1944, in Damascus, Georgia, Cindy's journey was marked by her unwavering faith and her commitment to enriching the lives of those around her.
Cindy’s life was a testament to her steadfast devotion to Jehovah, which remained the cornerstone of her existence. As an active member of her local Kingdom Hall, she embraced her faith with open arms, continually guiding her family and friends through both trials and joys. Her vibrant spirit touched countless hearts, as she shared her enthusiasm for life and unyielding beliefs with those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her loving family, which includes her three sons, Frederick (Coleen) Gibbons, James (Julia) Gibbons, and Gregory Gibbons. Each son carries forward her profound impact, ensuring that her legacy of love and faith continues to flourish in future generations. Cindy was also blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love.
Her siblings, Jewll Smith, Donnell Wells, and Tommy Wells, will remember Cindy for her kindness and the love she so freely offered. She was not just a sister but a confidante and a guiding light in their lives, forever fostering unity and strength within the family.
Cindy is predeceased by her life mate, James Gibbons, Jr., her beloved daughter D'Angela Gibbons, and her sisters Margaret and Annie B. Wells, alongside her brother, Forest Wells, Jr. The bonds shared among them were filled with laughter, shared stories, and a deep-rooted love that transcended time, and they will miss her dearly.
As we gather to celebrate Cindy's life, her legacy of unwavering faith and devotion will resonate through every heart she touched. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA. Following this will be her funeral service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 1990 Highland Ave, Augusta, GA, on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2:30 PM. The interment will follow at South View Cemetery at 3:45 PM.
Cindy Aretha Wells-Gibbons will always be remembered for her loving spirit, her dedication to her faith, and the warmth she spread wherever she went. Her journey here may have ended, but her light will forever shine in the hearts of those who loved her.
