Claudia Elizabeth Riley, a beloved matriarch and a pillar of strength in her community, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, in her cherished hometown of Augusta, Georgia. Born on February 15, 1940, Claudia lived a life rich in love, service, and dedication that touched the hearts of many.

Claudia devoted much of her life to the support and betterment of others. She began her journey of Christian service at an early age at Elim Baptist Church, where her spiritual foundation took root. Her deep commitment to her faith led her to become one of the esteemed Church Mothers at First New Hope Baptist Church, where she served honorably as a Missionary and Deaconess. Claudia's beautiful voice graced the First New Hope Baptist Church Choir, where she sang not just for the love of music but as an expression of her devotion to God.

Her commitment extended beyond the church walls. After retiring from the Girl Scouts of America in 2002, Claudia continued to serve her community faithfully by working at the voting polls during election times, embodying her belief in civic duty and active participation in her community. Her commitment to her role as a mother and grandmother was evident in the countless hours she provided guidance, love, and inspiration to her family.

Claudia attended Lucy Craft Laney High School, where she graduated in 1958, setting the groundwork for a life of service and dedication. Her legacy is one that reflects her unwavering faith and tireless work ethic, resonating through the lives she touched along the way.

Claudia leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her devoted husband, Willie Riley, Jr., her sons Carlos, Tony (Rosia), and Kelvin (Kathy), along with eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren who carry forward her spirit of love and unity. Claudia also cherished a faithful first cousin, a bond that enriched her life and brought joy to her days.

Her visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home in Augusta, Georgia. The funeral service celebrating Claudia's remarkable life will be held the following day, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First New Hope Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hephzibah, Georgia, with interment following the service at 12:15 PM.

As we remember Claudia Elizabeth Riley, we find comfort in the profound impact she made throughout her life. A life devoted to faith, family, and service, her legacy will continue through the love she cultivated and the lives she enriched. Though she may have departed this Earth, she will forever be etched in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return.
