Darlene Gough

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, and house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:1

Darlene was born November 16, 1972, to the late Douglas Kelly and Sherline Dixon Mims. She departed this life September 14, 2026.

There is no doubt, she was a loving mother, dedicated grandmother, daughter, friend. Darlene was baptized at an early age at Friendly Church of God in Christ and continued her commitment until health issues dictated otherwise. She later recommitted her faith in God on August 20, 2023, at New Frazier Temple Church of God in Christ.

She attended several schools in the Richmond County School System and completed her formal education at Lucy Craft Laney High School, class of '91. This was not a stopping place for Darlene. She later received a nursing degree from Midlands Technical College and went on to become a Registered Nurse.

She strived to continue her career in nursing with 15 years of service as an RN at the Veterans Administration Hospital even during her illness. Her kindness, strength, and beautiful spirit touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in both her personal and professional life.

Cherishing her memory and her life is her devoted husband, Lorenzo Gough, Sr.; three sons, Dominique A.(Jamie Harris) Sheppard, Sr., Joseph P. Washington and Lorenzo Gough, Jr.; two daughters Ladiamond P. Washington and Dynasty S. Washington; the joy of her life, two grandsons, Dominique Sheppard, Jr. and Jace Sheppard and one granddaughter, Aria Sheppard. Two special gifts; Mia and Madeline Tutson; Goddaughter, Jade Pollard
