David A. Crawford, Sr.

Lexington, South Carolina

David A. Crawford, Sr., a beloved husband, father, and friend, peacefully departed this life on August 2, 2025, in Charleston, South Carolina, at the age of 55. Born on July 10, 1970, in Aiken, South Carolina, David’s life was a testament to the virtues of faith, family, and service.

David graduated from Silver Bluff High School, embarking on a journey that would see him serve his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His dedication and commitment to his country were matched only by his devotion to his family and community. He was employed by AGY, where he made cherished connections with colleagues and friends.

From an early age, David accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and he became a member of St. Mary Baptist Church in Martin, South Carolina. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through challenges and shaping his character.

David leaves behind his loving wife, Tameka Crawford, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they raised three remarkable children: Shaquavia, David Jr., DeShawn, and Markiem. Each of them carries forward the values and love instilled in them by their father. David's legacy continues with his grandchildren: Jurnee, Paighten, Ziyana, Landon, Logan, Kaizeer, Malaya, Kasiem, Khloe, and Karena, who brought immense joy to his life.

He is survived by his sister Carolyn (Terence) Wahington and brother Danny (Annette) Crawford, as well as a network of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends who will forever hold his memory close. He was also a cherished son-in-law to Doretha (Adolph) Shaw and James Curry, and his aunt and uncles, Vivian DeWindt, Earl (Justine) DeWindt, and Roy DeWindt, will miss his warmth and humor dearly.

In the remembrance of his life, we also honor the memory of those who have preceded him: his brother Jerome Stokes, and uncles Frankie Dewindt and Lloyd Williams, whose absence is felt deeply by all.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate David's life during the visitation on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home in Augusta, GA. The funeral service will be held the following day, Friday,  August 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Aiken, SC, followed by interment at the church at 2:30 PM.

David A. Crawford, Sr. lived a life marked by love, service, and unwavering faith, and although he has left this earthly realm, his spirit will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
