Sheppard, a cherished member of the Augusta community and a devoted labor and delivery technician at St. Joseph's Hospital, departed this world on December 31, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia, at the age of 93. Born on April 18, 1932, in Bamburg, South Carolina, Dorothy’s life was a tapestry woven with love, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to her family and her work.
For many years, Dorothy played a vital role in the miracle of life, assisting countless families as they welcomed their little ones into the world. Her gentle spirit and warm smile provided comfort to expectant mothers and fathers alike, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her. Dorothy dedicated her life not only to her career but also to the nurturing of her community in Augusta, Georgia, where she became a beloved figure recognized for her kindness and resilience.
Dorothy was more than her profession; she was a beacon of strength and love in the lives of those around her. Although she has left us physically, her spirit continues to empower and inspire those fortunate enough to have shared in her life's journey.
A visitation to honor Dorothy will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext, Augusta, GA. The following day, Thursday, January 8, 2026, a Funeral Service will be held at the Augusta Ebenezer Seventh-day Adventist Church at 11:00 AM, located at 1699 Olive Rd, Augusta, GA. Dorothy will then be laid to rest during the interment at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hephzibah, GA, starting at 12:30 PM.
