Dosker Lee Howze, Sr.

March 6, 1947 — May 29, 2025

Augusta, Georgia

Dosker Lee Howze, Sr. was born on March 6, 1947, in Coffeeville, Alabama, and departed this life on May 29, 2025, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

A proud veteran, Dosker served his country with honor in the Vietnam War, demonstrating courage and commitment that defined his extraordinary character. After his military service, he devoted many years of his life to his career in heating and air after retiring from The United States Army and later from The V.A. Hospital. His dedication to service, both in and out of uniform, has inspired many around him.

Dosker’s personal life was rich with love, having met the love of his life, Mary Magoline, in Brooklyn, New York. The two embarked on a beautiful journey together when they married on November 13, 1968. Their love for each other, marked by deep respect and unwavering support, formed the cornerstone of a family that grew to include a devoted daughter, Torri Howze and son, Dosker Lee Howze III.

Dosker was not only a dedicated husband and father but also a beloved brother and brother-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, his cherished daughter, Torri, and a devoted sister, Eula Pugh. He will be dearly missed by his sisters-in-law, Rose Barnes, Emma Jackson, Caroline (Joseph) Parks, and Mae Hammonds, as well as his brother-in-law, Fred Ekwunoh.

Although Dosker was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dosker Lee Howze III, and siblings Zila Mae Howze, John Namon Howze, Bardee Pitmon, Quincy (Bully) Howze, Alex (Pee Wee) Howze, Clayton (QV) Howze, and Marvin Howze, his spirit continues to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Each shared memory weaves a tapestry of joy that will keep his spirit alive in their lives.

Dosker graduated from Clarke County Training School in 1965, and his thirst for knowledge led him to further his education at Augusta Technical College, where he earned a degree in heating and air conditioning in 1990.
