Frances Lewis

A native of Augusta, Georgia, and a graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School and the University of South Carolina, Frances Glenda Jones Lewis, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on March 1, 2026, in Hephzibah, Georgia.

A visitation to honor Fran will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext, Augusta,

Fran was born on March 2, 1955, in Augusta, Georgia. Her warm presence and caring nature left an undeniable mark on all who knew her. Fran had a special ability to provide comfort and love, making her an exceptional caregiver—a role she embraced wholeheartedly. Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. Fran’s love for her family and friends was unparalleled, and she often expressed this through the time she spent with them, the care she provided, and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures.

Fran’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her laughter, her love of life, and her ability to make everyone feel cherished will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Fran is survived by her cherished children, Frances Marlana Lewis and Raffael Andrew Lewis, who were her pride and joy, her guiding light, and her most treasured accomplishments. She also leaves behind her devoted, vibrant, and intelligent grandson, AJ Owate.

Fran also leaves to cherish her memory four siblings: Beverly Burden; Freddie Jones and his wife, Naomi Payne Jones; Sandra Jones Orr; Benson Sheppard III, and one aunt, Debbie Harrington. Her memory will also be forever honored by a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmy P. Lewis; one brother, Michael Jones; and one nephew, Ray Orr.

As we say “see you later” to Frances Glenda Jones Lewis, we celebrate the life of a woman who was a beacon of kindness and love. Her legacy is one of unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community—a testament to the beautiful life she lived and the countless lives she touched. Fran’s memory will be treasured forever as we hold her close in our hearts and remember the light she brought into our lives.
