Augusta, Georgia

Mrs. Georgia Ann Carter was born on November 5, 1938, in Lincoln County, Georgia, to the late Hosey Elam and Viola Jones Elam. She peacefully departed this life on May 20, 2026, at Wellstar MCG Health.

Georgia was a devoted and family-oriented woman who dedicated her life to loving and caring for those around her. She was the heart of her family and was known for her wisdom, strength, laughter, and unconditional love. Her presence brought comfort and joy to many, and she leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. She enjoyed traveling, working puzzles, cooking, and reading her Bible.

In the 1950s, she moved to Augusta, Georgia, where she later graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School. Georgia was united in marriage to the late Wesley Carter Jr. She was employed by Ideal Toy Company and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant while living in New York. She also served in the Richmond County Board of Education Food and Nutrition Program during the summer months.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Bruce Carter and Tony Carter, both of New York; her brother, George Elam; and her sisters, Geneva Mathis, Ethel Sampson, and Betty Jean Littles. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Danny Carter; her daughter, Anne Liese Carter; her brother, Robert Elam (Doris); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Her love, guidance, and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
