Harvey Joseph Woody, Jr.

Remembering with joy and gratitude, the life of Harvey Joseph Woody Junior age 77 of San Antonio Texas, who passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026. Harvey Woody Junior was born in Austin, Texas to the late Harvey Joseph Woody, Sr. and Bobby J. Woody, the oldest child of three and the only son.

Harvey and his family relocated to San Antonio where he grew up and attended Saint Peter Carver Catholic School K-8th grade. He graduated from Highland high school in San Antonio. Harvey went on to attend St. Mary’s University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Harvey also went on to receive a master’s degree and obtain a social work and psychology PhD candidate certificate from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor.

After graduation Harvey went on to serve his country on October 12, 1976, he enrolled in the United States Army reserves medical service core. Captain Harvey Joseph Woody Junior would stay in the United States Army reserve medical core for three years and one month as a social work officer and a drug and alcohol and prevention counselor. Harvey would go onto work for Gracewood State school in hospital, which was later known as East Central regional Hospital Gracewood, where he was a clinical social worker for the state of Georgia for over 30 years.

Harvey was one of the best conversationalists you would ever meet with interest in things like history, sports, music, travel. He was also known for his great source and collecting of things such as records, maps, coins, recipes, and cookbooks.

Harvey Joseph Woody will be deeply missed and loved by his two Godsons Aden, and Adam. It will never be the same for them, watching the sporting event without Harvey sharing the knowledge and the love for any sporting event that they watched together. He will also be cherished by many of his friends and coworkers and neighbors. Harvey will be missed from his family in San Antonio, his sister, Maria Harkless and Gilbert Harkless, Sherrilynne Wilkinson, Richard Jr Wilkinson and his nieces, nephews, cousins and any other surviving
