From an early age, James embraced the Lord with a profound commitment at his church home, Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life, offering strength and solace in every season.

James attended Glenn Hills High School and T. W. Josey High School in Augusta, where he distinguished himself not only academically but also on the basketball court. His talent and passion for the game were evident, bringing pride and joy to those around him.

As a master mechanic, James transformed his skill and craftsmanship into a meaningful career, dedicating himself to his work with precision and care. Beyond the garage, he found peace and creative expression in drawing and the comforting melodies of music, pursuits that enriched his spirit and brought him happiness.

James leaves behind a loving family who cherished him deeply: his children Darlene Dickerson, Shonta (Jermaine) Bradley, Randy Harris, Yashika Halls, Tommy Smith, Tyrica (Gonzalee) Jones, Anntelisha “Jay” Halls, and Tavares Smith. He was a proud grandfather to 23 grandchildren and counted nine great-grandchildren among his blessings. His family extends through his sister Angelique (Clayton) Bradley and brothers Bobby Bennett and Rev. Olen Jessie, along with his niece Deleta Johnson, nephews, and many other beloved relatives and friends who hold his memory close.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James Halls, Sr. and Aldania Halls, and his sister Brenda Copeland, whose legacies live on in the hearts of all who knew them.

In remembering James Halls, Jr., one recalls a man of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a heart filled with love—qualities that defined his life and inspired all who had the privilege to know him.
