John B. Price, Sr.

Mr. John Benjamin Price gained his wings on September 2, 2026, at Piedmont Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on January 20, 1943, in Martin, South Carolina, to the late Sallie B. Price and Joseph Price.

He attended Butler High School in the Barnwell School District. At an early age, he joined Jordan Baptist Church in Barnwell, South Carolina, where he served as an usher.

He was united in holy matrimony to Princine Reed Price on July 2, 1970. They relocated to Newark, New Jersey, and later moved back to Augusta, Georgia.

Throughout his life, he worked various jobs and was a dedicated taxicab driver for 50 years. He showed love and respect to everyone he encountered. He admired his customers, and they admired him in return. He also enjoyed having conversations with people.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Princine Reed Price; his loving daughter, LaShawn Price; his grandson, Jalen Jackson; his sister, Georgia M. Palmore; and his brothers, Leroy Price, Shelton Price, and Joseph H. Price.

He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory four sons, Varian Price, John Price Jr., John “Prunty” Price, and Brian Price; three granddaughters, Janeisha Price, Shekeria Lewis, and Jakeria Price; one great-grandchild, SaRiya Spears; five sisters, Barbara “Bee” Knowles, Lena Price, Bettye Bing, Linda Lewis, and Teresa J. Simmons; one brother, Phillip (Liza) Price; three sisters-in-law, Allean Moesby, Yolanda Reed, and Belinda (Lamontez) Williams; eight brothers-in-law, Lee Ransom Reed Jr., Edward Reed, Gerald Reed, Rudolph Reed, Ralph Reed (Shaboni), James Reed (Elaine), Johnny Reed, and Jerry Reed; and a host of other family members and friends.
