Brother Johnnie Wilkerson, 73, of Augusta, GA, entered into eternal rest on May 14, 2025. Born September 25, 1951, in Screven County to the late Sylvester Sr. and Emma Price Wilkerson, Johnnie was educated in the Richmond County School System and baptized at Hiltonia First Baptist Church.
As founder of Wilkerson’s Tree Service and Landscaping, Johnnie grew a one‑man operation into a respected regional business. From the very start, his devoted wife, Irene, stood by him—encouraging each bold step, helping with the books, and cheering every success. Johnnie found joy in simple pleasures. He could often be found at the local pool hall, chalking his cue, sharing laughter, and teaching his son, Dedric Burley the art of the break. He never missed a chance to mentor young players or swap stories with old friends. At home, he delighted in family gatherings and backyard barbecues.
Johnnie’s greatest joy was helping others: moving family, coaching young job seekers, delivering firewood to neighbors, or simply sharing a meal. He was preceded in death by six siblings and leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Irene Wilkerson; his son, Dedric “Hometown” Burley; brothers Reverend Sylvester (Alma) Wilkerson, Jr., and Robbie Wilkerson; sisters Sara (Alphonso) Aleem and Catherine (Linwood) Cooper; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
May he rest forever in the shade of the trees he loved, his legacy of faith, hard work, and service.
