It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt reverence that we announce the passing of Joyce Ann Oliver, a cherished daughter of Augusta, Georgia, who departed this life on March 22, 2026, in the city where her journey once began on June 7, 1957. Joyce's life was a testament to unwavering dedication, compassion, and steadfast faith.
For an extraordinary span of forty-two years, Joyce devoted herself with tireless commitment to Piedmont Hospital, formerly known as University Hospital in Augusta. Her career was marked by an unyielding work ethic and an earnest desire to serve her community with grace and professionalism. Within the halls of this venerable institution, she touched countless lives, standing as a pillar of strength and kindness.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Joyce was a devoted and faithful member of the Greater Young Zion Baptist Church until the end of her days, where her spirit found solace and her soul was uplifted. Her presence in the congregation was a beacon of warmth and devotion, reflecting the depth of her spiritual convictions.
Joyce’s life was further enriched by the love and fellowship of her family and friends. She was a treasured sister to Theresa (Mike) Certain and Terri Gray, whose loving bonds brought joy and comfort throughout their shared lives. Patrick Wright, her devoted brother, stood alongside her with unwavering affection. The legacy of family extended lovingly through her nieces Jessica and Amber, and her great-nieces Le'Paris and Jez'Maie, whose lives she deeply touched. Dear cousins Mary Wormly and Lillian Carraway, as well as a broad circle of cousins and friends, hold her memory tenderly in their hearts.
She was born to Jessie Mae Wright and Johnny Wright, now departed from this earthly realm, whose love and guidance helped shape the remarkable woman she became.
Joyce Ann Oliver leaves behind a world profoundly better for her having been in it—a world graced by her kindness, illumined by her faith, and enriched by her commitment. Though she has taken leave of this mortal existence, her spirit endures in the hearts of all who knew her, a cherished light whose glow will never fade. May her memory be eternal, and may her soul find everlasting peace.
