Joyce Walker Bush, a beloved homemaker and cherished matriarch, passed away on November 14, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia, at the age of 80. Born on August 11, 1945, in Augusta, Joyce devoted her life to her family, faith, and the community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Joyce was a loving and compassionate woman whose spirit radiated warmth and kindness. Her unwavering devotion to her family was evident in everything she did. As a proud mother to her devoted son, Todd Walker, Joyce took immense joy in nurturing the lives around her. Two remarkable women, Wondra (Carlton) Burke and Trina (Isaac) Lee, affectionately considered her a niece and daughter, while Kristi Stueck was embraced as an adopted daughter, enriching Joyce's life with their love and laughter. Her family continued to grow with several nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and other relatives who adored her and who she cherished deeply.
Education was important to Joyce, and she proudly graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School in 1965. Her journey of faith began at an early age, as she walked hand in hand with Christ at Tabernacle Baptist Church. She later found her spiritual home in the World Evangelistic Outreach Church, where her love for the Lord blossomed alongside her devotion to her church family. She extended her loving spirit to all her adopted family members, welcoming everyone into her heart with open arms.
Joyce's passing is felt profoundly not only by her living family but also by her cherished memories of her siblings: James Blassingame, Catherine Blassingame Rodney, Albert Blassingame, Frances Blassingame Owens, Icelea Blassingame Henderson, Patricia Walker Thomas, Cora Walker Moss, Josie Walker Evans, Paul Walker, Willie Walker, Tommy Lee Walker, and Reuben Walker. Their bond of kinship and shared memories form an everlasting legacy of love and support.
She leaves behind an array of memories, moments, and impact that will be treasured by her loving family and friends forever. A visitation to commemorate Joyce's brilliant life will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating her remarkable journey will follow on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 2:30 PM at World Outreach Evangelistic. The final resting place for this beautiful soul will follow at South View Cemetery at 3:45 PM on the same day.
