Larry Harris

Larry James Harris 3/28/1949 – 1/22/2026

Larry was born to Lula Mae Hunter and Willie Harris on March 28, 1949. He attended Lucy Laney High School and then entered Payne College, where he played basketball. He never met a stranger and made friends with every person he met (especially the ladies). He loved his children and his grandchildren with every fiber of his being. Larry was a kind soul in every sense. He was loving and carried himself with quiet strength. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought light, and his legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched through his caring, his kindness and his unwavering heart. He is survived by his children, Reginald Perkins, Larry Perkins, Mandrell Harris (Takila), Tony Neely, Shondala Harris-Cabbagestalk (Anthony), and Brooklyn Harris; his brothers, Dennis Harris and Maurice Harris (Tonya), his sisters Connie Reamey-Elder, Elaine Pryor, Mary Alice Harris, Brenda Williams (Markeith), Lawanna Hawkins and Sheryl Cooney (Barry); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Kathy LaVerne Trimble.
