Laura Mae was a graduate of Jefferson High School and Augusta Technical College, where she cultivated the knowledge and skills that would shape her future. In 2009, she retired from Savannah River Site after a successful career. Her work ethic and commitment were commendable and served as an inspiration to all who knew her.

However, Laura Mae's most significant contributions went beyond her professional achievements. She was deeply involved in her community and played an active role in various organizations throughout her life. As the head of the Kitchen Ministry, she ensured that those in need had warm meals and felt a sense of comfort. Laura Mae's voice soared high as a member of the Senior Choir, filling hearts with joy through melodic hymns.

Not content with only one contribution at church, Laura Mae also served as a former member of the Usher ministry. Her welcoming smile and warm demeanor made everyone feel at home within the walls of the sanctuary. Furthermore, she was one of the founding advisors of the N.G. Bryant Youth Choir which had a lasting impact on countless young lives.

Her commitment to faith extended far beyond church duties; Laura Mae fully embodied kindness and compassion in everything she did. She possessed an unwavering devotion to helping others and spreading love throughout her community.

Aside from her professional accomplishments and extensive involvement in church activities, family meant everything to Laura Mae. Douse of John's Creek, GA (daughter), Brittany (James) Patterson of Beech Island SC (granddaughter), Brandy Sanders of Beech Island SC (granddaughter), Bria Sanders of Beech Island SC (granddaughter), Cierra Green (great-grandchild), Tamia Wilson (great-grandchild), Kingston Patterson (great-grandchild), Kassidy Patterson (great-grandchild), Polly Ann Brown of Jackson, SC (sister), Mary Alice Ryans of Jackson, SC (sister), Christine Thorton of Philadelphia, PA (sister), Betty Douse of Starkville, MS (sister), Cynthia Douse (sister-in-law), John Douse of Jackson, SC (nephew), Eddie Douse of Jackson, SC (nephew), Joycelyn Brown of Beech Island, SC (devoted niece) and countless nieces, nephews, and sorrowing friends. Her love touched the lives of all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

The life and legacy of Laura Mae Douse will be honored with several services. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA 30901.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, starting at 2:30 PM at Bean Pond Church in Jackson, South Carolina. The church holds a special place in Laura Mae's heart, where she found both solace and community support over the years. Following the funeral service, she will be laid to rest in a burial ceremony at Bean Pond Church.

Laura Mae Douse's life was one marked by selflessness, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to serving others. Her memory will continue to live on through all the lives she touched. Her family, friends, and community will forever remember her as a beacon of light, love, and compassion.
