In the serene embrace of Keysville, Georgia, on December 6, 2025, Louvenia C. Williams ascended to her eternal rest, leaving a resounding legacy of faith, music, and familial devotion. Born on February 7, 1947, in Augusta, Georgia, Louvenia was the cherished daughter of the late David Cheathem, Jr. and Ceaphie Mae Cheathem. Her formative years were spent in a loving household, enriched by the values instilled by her parents, and she blossomed into a beacon of light and inspiration.
Louvenia was a proud member of the Lucy C. Laney Wildcats Class of 1965, where her journey of life began to take shape. She later sought further knowledge and skill, obtaining training at the OIC Training Center, which laid a foundation for her future endeavors.
Her profound faith was an integral part of her life. Louvenia accepted Christ and was baptized at Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where she dedicated herself to service, unwavering even as her health dwindled. For many years, she actively participated in the church’s Alto section of the Tremont Temple Gospel Choir, infusing her spiritual contributions with melodic grace. In 1967, responding to God’s call, she joined the Cheathem Sisters, a musical group formed to evangelize through the power of song, guiding many souls to embrace faith in churches across the region. Furthermore, her voice graced various choirs, including the WTHB Young Peoples Choir, as she shared her passion for worship with those around her.
Louvenia's character reflected her deep commitment to family and community. As a beloved mother of three, she nurtured her children, Valery, Harry, and Tangela, imparting strength, ethics, and unconditional love. Her spacious heart did not stop there, extending warmth to her grandchildren: Feliciya, Johnathan, Jules, Le'Asia, Reggie, Kaizer, Cameron, and Carmello, as well as her great-grandchild, A'Laysia. Sisters, Bertha C. Jones and the late Ann and Dorothy, and her brother George, remain cherished parts of her story, as do her aunt Maggie Cartwright and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness.
As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, we reflect on the indelible mark she made through her devotion to God, her talent, and her unwavering love for her family. The memorial service honoring Louvenia will be held at Tremount Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia, on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM, culminating a life that was as harmonious as the songs she so passionately sang.
Louvenia C. Williams will forever be remembered as a devoted servant of God, a loving mother, a cherished friend, and a gifted musician who used her talents to uplift those around her. Her memory shall endure, echoing in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her deeply.
