Mahala E. Collier, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and steadfast friend, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on September 29, 1948, Mahala lived a life filled with love, service, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Mahala’s journey began in Augusta, Georgia, where she graduated in the Class of 1966 from Lucy C. Laney High School, setting a foundation for a lifetime of learning and growth. Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to serving others, she obtained her Associates Degree from Gupton Jones College of Funeral Services in 2000. For 26 fulfilling years, Mahala worked as an X-Ray Technician at University Hospital, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and patients alike until her retirement in 2002.

She was especially proud of her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy: Johnathan Dunton, Xavier McCullough, Quintavious Hall, Javonte' Hall, Jasmine Hall, and De'Montrez Hall. They were the light of her life, and she took immense delight in being a supportive matriarch, cheering them on in their many accomplishments.

These friendships enriched her life and highlighted her generosity, laughter, and wisdom. She often regarded her friends as family—a sentiment that truly reflected her loving nature.

She now joins her late husband, Henri Collier, and her granddaughter, Kourtney McCullough, in eternal rest. Mahala is also preceded in death by her father, James L.
