Marion Louise Dobey

1950 — 2025

Augusta, Georgia

Marion Louise Dobey, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this life on December 7, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on June 5, 1950, in Johnston, South Carolina, Marion’s journey through life was one marked by resilience, love, and dedication. A proud graduate of W.E. Parker High School, Class of 1968, Marion's foundation in education laid the groundwork for a fulfilling career and a rich family life.

Marion found her professional calling at Reigal Mills in Johnston, South Carolina, where she brought not only her skills but also an unmistakable warmth to her role, touching the lives of her colleagues and those around her. Her career was but one testament to her strong work ethic, yet her most notable legacy lies in the love she cultivated within her family.

In a beautiful turn of fate, Marion united in marriage with Willie H. Dobey, Sr. Soon after, their union blossomed into a loving family welcoming three wonderful children. Marion’s nurturing spirit shone brightly through her children: Willie H. Dobey, Jr., Colesha L. Dobey, and the memory of her beloved son, Sharrone L. Dobey, who preceded her in death. Her heart expanded with joy as she became a grandmother to Kelesha Dobey and Mary Jane Dobey, guiding them with her wisdom and endless affection.

Throughout her life, Marion maintained close bonds with her mother, Ruby A. Posey, and cherished her siblings—Mary P. (Albert) Smith, Betty Laysath, Wyman Posey, Rufus Posey, Henry Posey, and sisters-in-law Louise Williams, Gladys Padgett, and Mary F. Joseph. The tapestry of her life was further enriched by her extended family, which included one uncle, five aunts, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Marion’s legacy is also interwoven with the memories of those she has lost, including her husband Willie H. Dobey, Sr., her father Wyman Posey, and beloved siblings Ethel M. Posey, Lue Helen Posey, Harriett L. Posey, and David E. Jackson. They remain in the hearts of her family and friends, whose lives she touched in profound ways.
