On Saturday, July 11, 2026 the death angel called the name of Matthew Turner to eternal rest.

Matthew was born June 21, 1961, to the late Albert Turner Sr and Brinnie Mae Plowden. Matthew was educated in the Richmond County public school system. Upon graduation from Lucy C. Laney High School in 1976, he continued his education at Savannah State College that is now known as Savannah State University. While at Savannah State College Matthew was involved in several organizations. He was a co-editor for “The Tiger Roar”, The Augusta Collegiate Association, and The Savannah State College Concert Choir. Also, while at Savannah State College, Matthew was initiated into “The Eureka Grand Lodge University Free and Accepted Masons New Era Lodge #301 in Savannah, GA. In 1982 He pledged PHI BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY INCORPRATED, GAMMA ZETA CHAPTER.

Upon graduation Matthew returned to Augusta and was employed by The Youth Detention Center. In 1991 he married Jenean Wilson and returned back to Savannah, GA where he was employed by Georgia Regional Hospital and the Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education. In later years he returned to Augusta and was employed by Richmond County Board of Education. Due to health issues, he retired. Matthew ALSO was a member of the Second Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir.

Matthew leaves to cherish his memories, his older brother Albert Turner Jr, Augusta, GA. A Sister Kimberly Green Moment, Augusta, GA. A nephew Antonio Burroughs, Augusta, GA. A best friend Jenean Turner and her daughter Roshaundra Wilson, Savannah, GA and a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones.
