Maurice Anthony Harrison, a cherished member of the Augusta community, passed away on October 28, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on December 6, 1963, in Augusta, Georgia, Maurice remained a devoted resident of his hometown throughout his life.
A talented chef, Maurice retired after many years of service at Somewhere in Augusta, where he earned the admiration and respect of colleagues and patrons alike. His culinary skills and passion for food brought joy to many and left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of tasting his creations.
Maurice was a proud 1984 graduate of Westside High School in Augusta, where he began to cultivate not only his culinary talents but also lifelong friendships that would accompany him through his journey.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Dent-Harrison; his sons, Maurice Anthony Harrison, II and Wesley Brinson, Jr.; his daughter, Amy Brinson; and his grandson, Cameron Brinson. Maurice is also survived by his mother-in-law, Sarah Dent; uncle, Albert Eubanks; aunts, Martha Ann Brown, Betty Harrison, Patricia Harrison, and Janice Harrison; sisters-in-law, Carrie (Tony) Geiger, Patricia (Alfred) Stallings, and Teresa Holman; brothers-in-law, Dea. Michael (Julia) Dent, Dr. Charles (Jabaria) Dent, and Ellis Dent. Additionally, Maurice is survived by his special cousin, Langley Neal, his god sister, Stacie Barksdale, dear friends, Willie Smith and Darwin Barton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and very close cousins, along with other family members and friends.
Visitation services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA 30901. The funeral service will take place the following day, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Silver Bluff Baptist Church, located at 360 Old Jackson Hwy, Jackson, SC 29831. Following the service, interment will occur at Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Rd, Augusta, GA 30904, starting at 12:30 PM.
Maurice Anthony Harrison, will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
