Melodie W. Cummings

Melodie Wright Cummings, a beloved mother, nana, auntie, cousin, and friend, departed this life on January 19th, 2026 at the age of 62. Melodie was known for her kindness, strength, humor, compassion and sass! She touched the lives of many throughout the years. Melodie’s fiery spirit will never be forgotten. She loved to spend quality time with her family dancing, cooking, and being the life of the party. 

Melodie was born on November 16, 1963 in Newark, NJ to the late Alvin and Minnie Wright. While she lived her early childhood years in New Jersey, Melodie moved south to Georgia with her mother and sister around age 13. She attended Junior High and High School in the Richmond County school system. After high school she held various jobs from working with the City’s water department, to a meter maid, and a sales rep for Freidman’s Jewelry just to name a few.

 Melodie was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Lovett and one sister, Doris Jean Smith. 

She leaves to cherish her fond memories- loving children Tamica (Patrick) Wright of Augusta, GA, Keyada Frye of Atlanta GA, Ronald Hynson Jr of Augusta GA, Melvin Frye of Newnan GA, Elvin Frye of Charlotte NC, and a brother Carl (Annie) Lovett of Waynesboro, GA. She also leaves grandchildren- Marte’vius and Martrez Ware, Kyndalll Hynson all of Augusta GA, Kana, Destiny, Issac, Kova, Kyro Frye and Caitlin Harrison all of Cookeville TN; great-grandchildren- the late Kingston Rowe, Percy Rowe and Princess Frye of Cookeville TN, and a dear great-granddog Lulu of Augusta GA. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
