Minnie Lee Gatling, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Gates, North Carolina. Her life, which began on February 17, 1948, in Aiken, South Carolina, was marked by the warmth of love, laughter, and heartfelt connections that she fostered with everyone around her.
From a young age, Minnie demonstrated a profound faith and commitment to her community, epitomized by her baptism at Bean Pond Baptist Church, where she would later celebrate many milestones and cherished moments with family and friends. Minnie’s spirit was undeniably vibrant, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.
She is survived by her devoted children, Barbara (Leonard) Hughes, Nikki Briggs, and Reginald (Mia) Gatling, who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Her nurturing heart further extended to her siblings, including Leon (Ada) Douse, Willie (Bernice) Douse, Jr., Charlie Douse, Bivie Johnson, Dorothy Bates, Loraine (Joseph) Mims, Sr., and Jessie Morgan.
Minnie garnered immense joy from her role as a grandmother to seven grandchildren and as a great-grandmother to 15 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her family was her pride and joy, and every moment spent with them reflected her unwavering love and support.
Minnie was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reginald Gatling, Sr., and her cherished granddaughter, Santana Hughes, whose memories she will forever hold close. The bonds of love she created with her family are an enduring testament to her life and legacy.
As we gather to honor Minnie, her funeral service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Bean Pond Church in Jackson, South Carolina, beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by her interment at 12:15 PM. Family, friends, and all who knew Minnie are welcome to celebrate her life and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Minnie Lee Gatling's spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of those she loved, reminding us to cherish every moment and to embrace life’s simple joys. She will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered, her legacy woven into the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
