Mozelle Nero, a cherished pillar of her community and beloved matriarch, passed from this world on February 28, 2026, in her hometown of Augusta, Georgia. Born on May 15, 1942, in the heart of Augusta, Mozelle spent her life nurturing those around her, leaving an indelible mark on family, friends, and countless lives she touched through her work.
Mozelle dedicated 18 years of her life to the Ft. Gordon Eisenhower Hospital, where her compassion and kindness echoed through the halls as she provided care to so many in need. In addition to her service at the hospital, she spent 15 years driving a school bus for the Richmond County School System, nurturing and guiding the next generation with the same warmth and dedication that defined her character. For those fortunate enough to ride her bus, she was more than a driver; she was a steadfast presence, a kind smile at the start of their day.
Mozelle's spirit and love radiated through her family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Paula D. Douse, and her sons, Harold Dallas and Karamano Jones. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Deanna Clayvon, Chad Dallas, Robert Douse—and her great-grandchildren, Mya and Saviya Clayvon, whose laughter and joy were the highlight of her life. She also shared bonds of love with her nieces, Nancy Winfrey and Martha Ann Brown, who cherished every moment spent with her.
Though she now reunites with her late husband, Matthew Nero, and her sister, Lizzie Walton, who have awaited her return, Mozelle's vibrant spirit lives on through the stories shared by those she loved, an eternal testament to a life well-lived.
The community is invited to honor her remarkable journey during a Viewing on March 7, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM, transitioning into a Celebration of Life at 2:30 PM, both taking place at C.A.
