Mozelle Nero, a cherished figure whose life journey spanned nearly eight decades, took her final breath on February 28, 2026, in her beloved Augusta, Georgia. Born on May 15, 1942, Mozelle was a radiant soul, unavailable to the constraints of time, as she dedicated herself fervently to her community and family.
For 18 years, Mozelle worked at Ft. Gordon Eisenhower Hospital, where her nurturing spirit and dedicated service touched countless lives. The same warmth radiated from her as she drove a school bus for the Richmond County School System for 15 years, ushering children on their daily journeys with her kind smile. Mozelle knew how to transform the mundane into moments of joy; each child she carried became a beloved passenger in her heart.
The ties that bound her to her family were equally profound. Mozelle is survived by her devoted daughter, Paula D. Douse, and her sons, Harold Dallas and Karamano Jones. She took immense pride in her roles as a grandmother and great-grandmother, finding immeasurable joy in the lives of Deanna Clayvon, Chad Dallas, Robert Douse, Mya Clayvon, and Saviya Clayvon. Each precious moment spent with them nurtured her spirit, cementing her legacy of love and connection.
Mozelle’s family tree also extends to her nieces, Nancy Winfrey and Martha Ann Brown, who will carry fond memories of their aunt, knowing that her laughter and wisdom will ripple through their lives forever.
Though Mozelle now joins her beloved husband, Matthew Nero, and her sister, Lizzie Walton, in eternal rest, her spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of those she held dear.
A Viewing will take place on Friday, March 6, 2026, at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, where friends and family can pay their respects. The following day, Saturday, March 7, a Celebration of Life will honor her remarkable journey, beginning at 2:30 PM, also at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home.
Mozelle Nero leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication, woven into the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we gather to celebrate her life, let us remember her not with sadness, but with gratitude for the joy and light she shared with us all.
