Teddie Lee Nixon, Jr.

Teddie Lee Nixon, Jr. was born on March 26, 1975, to Dolores and Teddie Lee Nixon, Sr., at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Teddie was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, husband, family member, and friend whose life touched many.

At the tender age of six, Teddie accepted the Lord, was baptized, and remained a devoted disciple of Greater Young Zion until his passing.

Teddie was educated in the Richmond County School System and proudly graduated from Glenn Hills High School, Class of 1995. He played football for Glenn Hills High School. He loved sports. He enjoyed following games, talking about his favorite teams and athletes, playing cards, playing pool and spending time with family.

Teddie dedicated more than 25 years to working at Red Lobster. He was also a great cook. He learned how to cook from beloved mother, “Lois,” and his grandmother, Mary. He was especially known for his skills on the grill; cooking was one of the many ways he expressed his love for family and friends.

Teddie cherished his family and was the proud father of six children: Alexia Lockhart (Le’Vodric), Teddie Nixon III, Damarius Ferguson, Tyler Nixon, Dameris Shoultz, and Isaiah Nixon. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren: Amir Nixon, Zachai Nixon, Chavarius Ferguson, Ky’Aundre Ferguson, C. Nixon, and Liberty Lockhart.

Teddie shared a special bond with his siblings: Klein Banks, Leslie Whaley (Jessica), Kayla Nixon, Shynetric Huggins, Mason Carey, Annie Nixon, and Minnie Nixon. The memories they shared will forever remain a treasured part of their family story.

Teddie was preceded in death by his father, Teddie Lee Nixon, Sr.; stepfather, Thomas C. Banks; grandmother, Mary Huggins Johnson; grandfather, Willie James Huggins; and aunt, Bertha Vanwright.

Teddie leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Tara; his six beloved children, Alexia Lockhart (Le’Vodric), Teddie Nixon III, Damarius Ferguson, Tyler Nixon, Dameris Shoultz, and Isaiah Nixon; and his six cherished grandchildren, Amir Nixon, Zachai Nixon, Chavarius Ferguson, Ky’Aundre Ferguson, C. Nixon, and Liberty Lockhart. He also leaves his loving mother, Dolores Scott (Jack); Marlene Mack (Billy); uncles, Charles Huggins (Wanda), Purvis Huggins (Darlene), Tyrone Williams (Lavett), and Bernard Simpkins; aunt, Rossalind Gilbert (J.R.); his siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, friends, classmates, former coworkers, and loved ones.

Rest peacefully, Teddie. Your earthly journey is complete, but your love, laughter, faith, recipes, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
