Terry Jerome Geiger, a remarkable man who brought joy to all who crossed his path, was born on August 3, 1959, in Augusta, Georgia. He departed this life on May 10, 2025, in the same beloved city, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to family and community.
Terry's life was one marked by an unwavering passion for sports and the outdoors. He proudly served the Richmond County Recreation Department as a referee, sharing his love for the game with countless children and their families. His career also led him to Pan American Airways, a notable chapter that spoke to his adventurous spirit. In his later years, he worked at the Richmond County Youth Detention Center, where he had a profound impact on many young lives, guiding them toward brighter futures.
A proud graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School, class of 1978, Terry cherished the friendships he made there and found camaraderie in the unity with his classmates. His love for fellowship extended far beyond his school days; he enjoyed barbecuing, frying fish, and strengthening bonds with family and friends. Terry's charming personality and vibrant spirit transformed every gathering into a special occasion, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Terry was surrounded by a loving family at the time of his passing. He is survived by his devoted father, Bobby Green; the mother of his children and love of his life, Georgia Lamb; and his cherished children, Jasmine Geiger, and Donavan (Alicia) Geiger, and Joseph (Jessica) Green. Also mourning his loss are his seven beloved grandchildren: Jamal, Jada, Zamarion, DaQuan, Kennedy, DaVeon, and ZaKare. His family continued to grow with the arrival of his great-grandson, Nero. Terry’s siblings include his cherished sister, Kimberly (Herbert) Moment, Jr.; his brothers, Anthony (Carrie) Geiger and Jonathan Spann; and an array of aunts and uncles who supported him throughout his life, including Francis Elaine Williams, Javona Harden, Janie Gibson, Laura Reeves Taylor, Sally Reeve, Rebecca Washington, Christine Massey, Octavius Reeves, and Warren Reaves.
Terry was also greeted by his cherished family members who passed before him, including his mother, Betty Wilson Green, father, Haskell Geiger, Jr., brother, Lorenzo “Butchie” Wilson, and beloved grandmothers, Ruby T. Wilson, Cora Lee Gibson, and Ethel Murray, along with his aunt, Willie Mae Roundtree, and Fanie Mae Hobson. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
To honor Terry’s incredible life, a visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home in Augusta, GA. A funeral service will follow on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 2:30 PM, concluding with interment at Walker Memorial Park at 3:45 PM.
Though Terry is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of life and the bonds of family.
