A Time To Be Born ……..
Tonny was a blessed gift born to the union of the late AlVernon Banks and Maggie Jason Merritt on October 21, 1959, at Fort Gordon, GA
A Time For Training………
He was educated in the Richmond County School System. He dedicated many years as a Pipe fitter and construction worker until his health required him to step away.
A Time For Service……..
He gave his life to Christ at a young age. He was a devoted believer, standing firmly on God’s word. He faithfully served as an Armorbearer for many years at Word Alive Outreach Ministries, LLC. He enjoyed Life and Laughter. He led others to Christ by sharing God’s word.
A Time For Marriage …………..
On June 23, 2001, he married Schantain Fryer who remained devoted to him until his passing. They lived and believed in their vows through sickness and health.
A Time To Die ……….
Tonny answered God’s call on January 27, 2026, and gently left this world after an extended period of declining health.
A Time To Mourn……
He leaves to Mourn his passing a loyal and devoted wife of 24 years, Minister Schantain Fryer Merritt, three daughters; Ausha Teasley (Augusta, GA), Ausheanna Bennett (Kileen, TX), Chelsea Fryer (Augusta, GA), One grandson whom he loved more than life itself, Lannice Ja’Liyl (June Bug) Fryer, who dearly referred to Tonny as “Daa”, two brother Donald B. Merritt and and Darryl Carter; Father-in-law; Lannice (Bernice) Fryer, Sr., brothers-in-law; Lannice (Keisha) Fryer, Jr., Lannice C. (Heather) Collins Sister-in-laws; KiKi Fryer and Beverly Smith.
A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Tonny was an adopted Grandpa to any kid who wished to give him that title.
