Tyre Luke

1966 — 2025

Augusta, Georgia

On December 24, 1966, Tyre Danyul Luke was born to Ms. Earsell Luke and Mr. Willie A. Bussey at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Arriving on Christmas Eve, he was truly a joyful gift to his family. He transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at home with his cousin at bedside.

Tyre was educated in the Richmond County School System and graduated from Lucy Craft Laney High School. Throughout his educational journey, he formed close bonds with many of his teachers. Tyre was known for his intelligence, friendliness, and fun-loving nature. Following graduation, he worked at the Sandwich Gallery. Tyre also possessed a strong spiritual side. He worshiped at several churches with family and friends and was baptized at Greater Young Zion during his early teenage years. Tyre knew “everybody” and spent a lot of time celebrating with them. If you would let him tell it, everybody was his cousin. Having grown up between Delta Manor and Sand Hills -- you can understand that. Those places were his villages.

Tyre was preceded in death by: his parents, Earsell Luke and Willie Bussey; aunt, Genola Jimperson; great aunts, Eddie Mae Parks, Estella “TT”  Fouch, Georgia Crawford, and Geneva Fouch; great uncle, Reverend John Fouch; as well as many aunts and uncles, all of whom contributed to spoiling him.

He leaves to remember his loving presence: sisters, Panessa I. Gardner and Veronica (Louis) Davis; loving aunt, Jerlin Luke, who became his  guardian following his mother’s death; his second mom/devoted cousin, Frenchie Taylor; nephew, Randy Gardner, Jr.; nieces, Lakeisha and Laila  Davis; cousins who grew up together like siblings, Samonda (Anthony) Wilson, Jermeka Ford, Charlisa Williams, Charlie Williams, II, Todd Luke,  Jerry Dunn, Jr., Maurice Dunn, Sr., and Roscoe “Tommy” Jimperson, Jr.; special friends, Joyce and Jesse Spurlock, as well as a host of other  nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
