Vermilla Thomas Simpson

Vermilla "Tina" Thomas Simpson, of Augusta, Georgia, began her life on November 28, 1960, in Columbia County, Evans, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of the late James Eugene "Sonny" Thomas and Susie Parks Thomas. Tina was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Viola Blandenburg-Thomas, and four siblings: Awanda Thomas, Carl Thomas, Derrick Thomas, and Rickey Thomas.

Known affectionately as "Tina" to her family and friends, she enjoyed cooking, entertaining her loved ones, and sharing her wisdom with those around her. A devoted homemaker, Tina faced life's challenges with grace, becoming disabled in 1991 yet remaining a source of strength and love for her family.

Tina was called into rest in the early evening hours of September 24, 2026. She leaves behind her loving significant other of thirty-four years, Terry Williams. Her cherished memories and legacy live on through her three children: Michael Simpson Jr. of Cairo, GA, Montrel Simpson of Lawrenceville, GA, and Reco Simpson of Barnwell, SC. She is also survived by her three brothers: Aubrey Thomas (Atlanta, GA), Erick Thomas (Atlanta, GA), and Marion Thomas (Augusta, GA); stepbrother Sammy Sims (Augusta, GA); and two sisters-in-law, Deborah Gordon (Augusta, GA) and Frances Thomas (Augusta, GA). Additionally, Tina is remembered fondly by her two grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Tina’s warmth, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
