Vernon Lee Cratic, Sr.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Vernon Cratic Sr., a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He passed away peacefully in Augusta, Ga on September 10, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and legacy that will continue through the family and loved ones he cherished.

Born on May 5, 1951, in Augusta, Ga, Vernon was a man who believed in hard work, providing for his family, and doing what needed to be done. For many years, he worked as a roofer, dedicating himself to a demanding trade that required strength, determination, skill, and perseverance. He took pride in his work and in knowing that he could provide a solid foundation and a better life for the people he loved.

After years of hard work, he eventually retired, allowing him to enjoy a well-earned season of life surrounded by family, friends and the people who meant the most to him.

To those who knew him, Vernon was more than his occupation. He was a father whose presence helped shape the lives of his children, a grandfather whose love created lasting memories, and a man whose life reflected resilience, dedication and commitment to his family.

He will be remembered for his straightforward nature, quiet strength, and sense of humor, the lessons he taught through both his words and his actions, and the countless ways he showed loved throughout his life.

His greatest legacy is not simply the work he accomplished, but the people he loved and the lives he touched. Though his hands may have spent many years building and repairing roofs and engines, his greatest work was the family and memories he helped build.

He leaves to cherish his memory Cynthia Cratic, wife, Ralph (Tiffany) Cratic and Vernon Cratic Jr., sons, Cynthia (Roy) Spears, Candea (Dexter) Terrell, Verna Cratic, Lisa (Kerby) Frederick, and Cynthia E. Cratic, daughters. 19 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren.

We will miss his voice, his presence, his stories, and the moments that made him uniquely him. While our hearts are heavy with his passing, we are grateful for the years we were blessed to have him and for the love that will remain long after he is gone.

Rest peacefully, Dad. Your work here is finished. Your legacy lives on in us.
