Wilber Bruce Crawford, a beloved musician and cherished family member, departed this world on July 9, 2025, in his hometown of Augusta, Georgia. Born on July 22, 1949, Wilbur was a true son of Augusta, nurturing a passion for music that would resonate throughout his life.

From an early age, Wilbur cultivated a deep love for music, which became a defining essence of who he was. Best known as the gifted guitarist in the band "The Soul Dimension," he spent many years sharing his passion for music with others. Whether performing at lively family gatherings or enjoying quiet moments filled with song, Wilbur found joy in his talent, using it as a means to connect with loved ones and express the depths of his heart. Music brought him comfort, connection, and purpose, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of witnessing his artistry.

Wilbur's legacy will live on through his loving family: his devoted sons, Wilbur B. Crawford, Jr. and Joseph L. Crawford; his daughter, Vanessa (Christopher) Deines; and his grandchildren, Wilbur B. Crawford III, Savannah Crawford, Sharunda Crawford, Mary Crawford, Christen Deines, and Alyssa Deines, all of whom were illuminated by his warmth and spirit. He also cherished his four great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Wilbur had a circle of siblings who will forever hold him in their hearts: Deborah (Gregory) Watts, Felicia Billingslea, Sheila O'Neal, James S. (Sheila) O'Neal, Jr., Mark A. (Joan) O'Neal, and Michael O'Neal, each of whom carries memories of the joyous moments spent together.

In addition to his family, Wilbur shared a special bond with his longtime companion, Geneva Elmore, whose presence brought him companionship and joy in his later years.

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Roberta C. Oneal; his father, Franklin Dukes; and his sisters Ronna O'Neal and Audrey Avera, along with his brother Paul Crawford. Each played a unique role in shaping the man he became, and their memories will always be a source of love and strength for those he left behind.

A visitation to honor Wilbur will take place on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home in Augusta, Georgia.

As we reflect on the life of Wilbur Bruce Crawford, we remember a man whose devotion to music and family defined him. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories woven from notes and love, reminding us all to cherish the moments that bring us together. His spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved him.
